Working as a Timber framer I have had the opportunity to design and fabricate some amazing structures and buildings. I have been lucky enough to work with some very talented people. I was operations manager at the Timber Frame Company responsible for getting 30 plus jobs a year to site and bringing on a team of up to 15 carpenters, and also worked for Carpenter Oak and Woodland.

I have always been interested in teaching and over the years have trained quite a few carpenters transitioning to timber framing, so it was a natural step to become an assessor.

My work has been varied and some of the more unusual jobs included procuring timber overseas for H.M.S.Victory and the Royal Navy, grading timber for the Forestry Commission at their headquarters at Westonbirt Arboretum as well as working for private clients.

I worked at the Architectural Association campus in Dorset initially as part of the team building the Big Shed, and then later as senior carpentry tutor for 5 years specifically exploring alternative timber use from forestry and helping architects realise their design and build projects.

Since then I have mainly worked in the heritage construction sector doing renovation and restoration work, as well as some timber framing and occasional work with Xylotec amongst others
